Signing a MOU for the Construction and Financing of the Electrification of Tehran-Garmsar suburban railway

The Memorandum of Understanding for the design, construction and financing of electrification of Tehran-Garmsar suburban railway was signed by the CEOs of the Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Farab and TAM IranKhodro companies in the presence of Roads and Urban Development Minister on Saturday, 3rd July (2021).

According to Public Relations of Farab Co., In this memorandum, Farab-TAM IranKhodro consortium, led by Farab Co., will be responsible for the implementation of this project.

The implementation resources of this project are to be provided with financing, which will be implemented and facilitated by Farab-TAM IranKhodro consortium.

The length of Tehran-Garmsar project route is about 114 km in two lines and the length of the overhead line will be 260 km. With the electrification of this line, in addition to the fact that the train speed will increase from 120 to more than 160 km per hour.

According to the signed memorandum, Farab Co. is responsible for the design and implementation of overhead line and transmission lines, substations, SCADA and financing of 70 million Euros in addition to leading the consortium, and TAM IranKhodro Co. is also responsible for financing 50 million Euros in Russia and designing and building two EMU Trains and designing and constructing depots.

The total estimated cost of the project is about 120 million Euros, which is supposed to be completed in 24 months.
