Opening Ceremony of Mashhad Metro Line 2 at the presence of the First Vice President

Continuation of Mashhad Metro line 2 project from Shariati Square to Shahid Kaveh Station (Pirouzi) was opened on Friday, August 9, 2019 at the presence of First Vice President, Governor of Khorasan Razavi and a number of representatives in the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

According to Public Relations of Farab Co., in the ceremony attended by Managing Director, Vice President and a group of Managers of Farab Company, Dr. Isaac Jahangiri, First Vice President called urban train development one of the most successful human experiences in improving metropolitan transportation, traffic and environmental issues and said: “Of course we are years behind in the development of urban trains.” But we must work harder to make up for the shortcomings of the past.

Farab Co. is EPC contractor of equipment and fleet of line 2 Project of Mashhad urban railway, and for the first time in the country, Automatic Train Operation (ATO) signaling mode is launched in this country.

The project is 14 and a half kilometers including 13 station. The first phase is 8km long line, including 7 stations, opened in March 2016. One year later, in late March 2017, two more Saadi and Shariati stations were put to the test, following the completion of the other two kilometers of the line. Also, the plan to connect the Mashhad City line 2 to line 1 was officially launched in May 2018 at the presence of the Islamic Republic of Iran president and is currently serving passengers. Having operated about three kilometers further, Shahid Kaveh station was completed in June 2019 and was officially opened on August 9th .
